Dr Micklinghoff served as an Executive Nuclear Consultant from 2012 to 2022. He was the owner of the consultancy firm (VAT ID: DE285415298). The business was closed Dec 2022. Prior to this, Dr Micklinghoff was Senior Vice President for Nuclear New Builds and Projects at E.ON Nuclear (now Preussenelktra). E.ON was a diversified energy supplier consisting of renewables, conventional and decentralized power generation, natural gas, energy trading, retail and distribution. Dr Micklinghoff worked in the company's nuclear business unit which operated pressurized-water reactors and boiling-water reactors in Germany and Sweden. Before this, Dr Micklinghoff was Senior Vice President for Policy and Regulation at E.ON Nuclear. Core areas were safety and regulation. He also gained experience in political and fiscal matters during consultations/negotiations with the German Government. As a consultant Dr Micklinghoff offered independent expert opinions, support and studies in the following fields: Nuclear licensing Nuclear regulation Radiation protection including waste management Nuclear policy Nuclear new build Project management Nuclear governance in the operating organization Dr Micklinghoff acquired extensive experience in these areas during his professional life 1982 Licensing and Project Manager 1989 Head of “Nuclear Regulation and Policy” 2005 Project Director for the E.ON Nuclear New Build Program in UK 2007 Senior Vice President “New Nuclear Development/Projects” in E.ON Nuclear 2010 Senior Adviser to the Managing Board (since retirement) Dr. Michael Micklinghoff was a member in the EUR Steering Committee (European Utility Requirements) ENISS Steering Committee (European Nuclear Installations Safety Standards) KTA Board (German Nuclear Safety Standards) Foratom Steering Committee (European Nuclear Trade Organisation) etc. Between 2007 and 2009 he was Member of the Board of the WNA (World Nuclear Association) in London. As Senior Vice President “New Nuclear Development/ Projects” he led the New Build projects in UK and Finland on behalf of E.ON. In UK he was in charge of creating the project company / SPV “HORIZON Nuclear” and leading the Vendor/Design selection process. During several mergers and acquisitions, he was responsible for designing the new operating organization. Focus was on governance models for subsidiaries and nuclear power plants. Together with Christian Raetzke, Michael Micklinghoff wrote the book: "Existing Nuclear Power Plants and New Safety Requirements: An International Survey". Dr Michael Micklinghoff has been working in different regulatory environments. He interacted with nuclear regulators from several countries, in particular from UK, Sweden, Finland, France and the US. The consultancy firm had assignments from the US, UK, France, Germany, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and the EU-Commission. Clients were industrial companies, law firms, other consultants, analysts etc.
